Botox

Botox is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions, and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles. It can also be used in the treatment of gummy smiles and to correct thin lips. It is made from a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

About Botox

Although Botox is a powerful natural toxin, when used correctly, it has a number of applications.

Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating, migraines, muscular disorders, and some bladder and bowel problems. Botox is most commonly used for cosmetic purposes to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is predominantly used as a treatment to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines. Botulinum toxin is administered by diluting the powder in saline and injecting it directly into neuromuscular tissue. It begins to take effect within 24-72 hours and can take unto 30 days to reach full effect. It should not be used in pregnant or lactating women, or by people who have had a previous allergic reaction to the drug or any of its ingredients.

Possible side effects of a Botox injection include migraines, nausea, double vision, and general malaise.

Injections with botulinum toxin are generally well tolerated and there are few side effects. In rare cases, an individual may have an allergic reaction. Around 1 percent of people receiving injections of botulinum toxin type A develop antibodies to the toxin that make subsequent treatments ineffective.

Botulinum toxin's popularity continues to increase, with cosmetic minimally-invasive botulinum toxin type A procedures upto to 6.3 million in 2013.

Our services

The cost of the consultation is £20 and this is incorporated into the cost of the treatment should you wish to proceed. The consultation is an opportunity for you to tell us what changes you wish to see and for us to tell you whether this is achievable with Botox. We will advise you on the most suitable treatment to address your concerns. We will also demonstrate on where we would inject and the effects treatment will have.

Other areas covered in the consultation include practitioner experience and qualification, brands of products we use, product research, before and after photos, potential side effects and after care.

There is no obligation for you to go ahead with treatment. If you wish to proceed an appointment will be made for you to return for treatment.

Patients who have already had experience with Botox injections can have treatment at their consultation appointment if they inform us of their wishes in advance.

Botox prices start at £250. We do not over dilute and follow the manufacturers guidelines on delivering Botox treatments. Our pricing and delivery of treatments are not bargain basement and reflect our dedication to providing high standard aesthetic treatment. Pricing also reflects dosage and any immediate alterations are included in the price. We do not quote on treatments “per area” as this can be misleading and result in unsatisfactory results. Areas that require treatment are selected on results required and strength of muscle activity.

Botox can last anywhere between 2-4 months. in some cases it can last longer but depends on the individual. Where effects are not seen for long, this is often due to high muscle activity and an adjustment to future dosage will be needed.

Botox wears off with time gradually and does not switch off overnight, so with time expect to see muscle movement return and full effects to wear off by 4 months.

A good botox treatment should create a natural look with some movement in the face. A frozen look may appear flawless however in everyday life this can make an individual look ‘overdone’. We aim to provide an ‘aesthetic look’ that suits your unique face. No frozen faces please!!

Dermal Fillers

As we age, our skin becomes dryer, thinner and less able to fix itself. When we are born, we have lots of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in our body. This is the skins natural moisturiser. As we we age this store of HA diminishes, leaving the skin less well supported, and so lines and wrinkles develop. By lifting and smoothing targeted folds and wrinkles and adding subtle volume, dermal fillers can make a difference to a person’s appearance, giving them a fresher, more youthful look.

The treatment of wrinkles with dermal filler will usually involve injecting this naturally occurring product (HA) through a tiny needle or cannula. The discomfort is minimal as the treatment does not take long to perform. The results are seen immediately after the treatment. Treating wrinkles with dermal filler is fast, leaving no scars.

You can also treat your lips with lip fillers to add extra volume. Today’s sophisticated fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (or HA), which is a substance that’s found naturally in the body, making it much safer than previous procedures.

Treatment time is around 30-45 minutes and patients can expect to notice the effects for as long as 9 months after treatment. Downtime is 3-4 days if any brusing/swelling occurs. Makeup can be worn after 24 hours.

The results should be subtle, leaving our friends and family believing that we are simply looking our best and great for our years. Treatment lasts between 6-9months but, naturally, towards the end of this period the effects begin to gradually soften, so there is no dramatic change. When the effects begin to soften, we aim to ‘top up’ the treatment.

Patients will often come in to the clinic and point to a specific line that they don’t like. Good practitioners shouldn’t just look at treating this specific line, but will look beyond it to how the face looks as a whole, since treating an individual line could make the patient look unnatural. Sometimes the patient will say that people tell them they look sad, tired or grumpy when this isn’t really the case. In these instances, it’s usually not a single line that is causing this impression but multiple factors and the practitioner should discuss treatment options with the patient. It is really key that you feel safe and reassured by your chosen practitioner: a partnership should develop where you can speak freely about what concerns you, as this will allow the practitioner to truly understand your hopes and desired outcomes.

Glycolic Peel

Glycolic acid is a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid derived from sugar cane (it can also be made synthetically).

Due to its smaller molecular size, glycolic acid is more effective than other alpha hydroxy acids and when used correctly can improve the look and feel of the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots.

Glycolic acid is particularly effective for skin rejuvenation because of the following unique properties:

  • Exfoliates by thoroughly removing the uneven, rough layer of dead skin cells, resulting in a more even texture and skin tone.
  • Penetrates through the upper layer of skin to begin exfoliation from the bottom up, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation
  • Increases moisture retention improving skin hydration and overall skin health
  • Reduces the amount of surface skin oil, which aids the removal of blackheads, acne and other skin impurities and can help stimulate collagen production.

Leaves the skin feeling soft, clean and revitalised.

Patients can have the treatment done during their lunch break and can return to work immediately.

Treatment starts at £60 per peel. A course of 4 is recommended for best results one week apart. An offer of buy 3 get the fourth treatment free is available.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a safe, natural alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures and is ideal for dry, dehydrated and dull skin or simply as a skin boost.

Treatment can be applied to the whole face, neck, chest and hands. The Mesolift process involves a series of extremely superficial micro needling to break the surface of the skin to nourish and rejuvenate the skin.

Mesotherapy is a highly effective rejuvenating treatment, replacing the hyaluronic acid which provides deep hydration, toning benefits and cell regeneration. The introduction of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that decrease as we age can tone and tighten sagging skin, reduce fine lines and repair free radical damage.

Clients describe their skin as firm, radiant, youthful and glowing as a result of Mesotherapy treatment.

The delivery of the Mesotherapy treatment can be optimised by combining the treatment with a superficial glycolic skin peel. The action of the glycolic peel exfoliates dead skin cells and unclogs pores allowing for improved penetration of the mesotherapy product.

Each client is assessed and prescribed a cocktail to address their concerns or problem areas.

A series of 4 weekly treatments is advised to achieve completion of the mesotherapy properties to gain the maximum improvement. After this, monthly treatments are recommended to maintain smoother, healthy and hydrated skin.

One-off treatments are extremely popular for special occasions for instant glowing skin radiance and giving an amazing base to apply make-up.

Mesotherapy is also suitable for the hands, body and scalp.
